document D takes place mid 16th century and shows that the peasants are upset over the corruption of Christian heads in germany. also the reformation starts in germany and that is where this document is from. also the document has a similar idea as document b however now the ideas of an educated man like erasmus are going down to the larger part of the Christian faith, the "normal" people or peasants. now the new thoughts and ideas are being spread around through the people in germany

This document is once again outlining the corruption of the Catholic church. The pastors use Church money for their own benefit, and not that of the Church. Context for this document can be found in the issues many citizens face in the wake of unjust church officials.

Document D further defines one of the benchmark causes of the Protestant Reformation: the corruption of the papacy and the Catholic church. Pastors often used the power that came with their posistion for their own benefit, gaining wealth off of trusting individuals (via indulgences, ect). People all over Europe were becoming more aware of these scamming pastors and thus an opposistion to the Catholic Church became more and more conspicuous

Document D demonstrates more corruption of the Catholic Church. It tells us that the people felt cheated from salvation by the Church's greed (indulgences), and also that the German princes were beginning to side with Luther's idea as they were discovering such corruption.

Document D lists issues that are being found in the Catholic church. When reading this document contextual factors are very important; You need to focus your attention on the cause and effects of these issues. For example, one of the effects would be the spread of Protestantism.

Before reading this document, we must notice the "place and time," i.e during the mid-16th century and in Germany. These contextual factors further illuminate the purpose, which seems to be to present the corrupt practices of the greedy and impersonal Catholic papacy.

Document D can be used to support the corruption within the Catholic church. In this passage, the pastors are using their power to find personal gain, rather than the church's benefit. It is important to note who this is written by-German princes, as they were among the first to side with Luther.

This document brings the issues of the papacy into play. Money from the Holy Roman Empire would directly fill the pockets of the papacy. The pastors mentioned are not shepherds who guide one to religion but shepherds who are concerned with the gifts their sheep give them.
